Coming into this tournament I had a little bit of momentum from a decent week last week in Spain. This weeks test is a much stronger test and requires you to hit good shots off the tee in order to be rewarded. As well as this the greens are tricky and can easily catch you out if you don’t pay full attention to them! It has been extremely cold here and felt like practicing at home in winter these last couple of days! It really does feel like a home event in terms of conditions although I believe the weather at home has been great compared to here! After a couple of good practice days I feel great about my game and I am really excited to tee it up on Thursday morning.
Day One:
I felt great going into today and had a good warm up and everything felt in place for the round! I got off to a shakey start especially on the greens which left me +3 after 6 without doing too much wrong! I grinded so hard to get back to level after 13 holes and really dug in there. Unfortunately I hit it in the hazard on the 18th and made a double bogey which eliminated all of the good work that I previously did. +2 leaves me with a lot to do tomorrow and very frustrated indeed. I know I am very close to playing well so I just have to stay positive and keep doing what I’m doing. Tomorrow is another day!
Day Two:
I knew I had to go out and attack the course today in order to make the cut. I had -6 in mind to make the cut and I started great! I was -3 after 4 but then 3 putted my 6th hole which took all the momentum out of it. I battled well and was -2 at the turn. I knew I had to shoot -4 on my back nine and I started well by hitting the par 5, 1st in two but once again threw in a 3 putt. I gave it my all but just couldn’t get the ball to drop unfortunately.
I played well enough to get it done this week and put a good week together but the putter let me down! I need to work hard on this area and make sure I improve for me to get what I deserve out of my rounds! Another frustrating week but we live to fight another day! There is a big week around the corner and I know that I am heading in the right direction. Once again thanks for the support.
Many thanks
Jack
