After spending a couple of weeks at home with Open Qualifying going on I was more than ready to get back out on tour and finish the season strongly. I have been struggling with my game a bit recently and haven’t been at my best not even average to be quite frankly honest. I had put in some good work with Ryan and after a decent showing in a local pro am I felt like things were moving in the right direction.
This weeks event was a unique one, it was the fixed mixed event in Europe. The Alps tour was pairing up the LET Access Tour to put on the event. The event was at Saint Malo golf resort in the North of France. Again it was in another beautiful part of the world and the course itself was a nice set up and offered a lot. You could really get a score going if you played well but at the same time you could reel off bogies if you weren’t quite at the races.
Day One:
I started off the day with a great drive but then made a bogey from the middle of the fairway! Which pretty much sums up how things are going at the moment. I played solid and gave myself some chances before birding the par 5 15th. (I started on 10). I managed to lay up into the water on the 18th with a 9 iron that went 215 yards, still don’t know how it managed to go in there! This led to another silly bogey. I had one more bogey and two birdies after this to finish at level par. Not an awful score but I did not play well whatsoever. Very frustrating round and left me with some work to do on the second day. I went off to the range to work on a few things and felt like I was ready to take on the next day.
Day Two:
I knew that I had to make more birdies and fewer mistakes today! I struck the ball probably the best I have all year and gave myself so many chances! The putter really let me down big time today! It’s the worst I’ve putted all year! I was missing birdie opportunities on pretty much every hole and it was really stopping me from moving forward! This left me at +1 for the tournament and another missed cut! Simply not good enough! I can’t believe how many putts I missed and another day where I put average I would have shot -5 without even blinking.
Another frustrating tournament and going through a real struggle at the moment! I have to pick myself back up and go again for next week! I would be lying if I said I wasn’t finding it tough at the moment for a number of reasons but I know I have to concentrate on the upcoming week and try to enjoy my golf again. I am not far from playing some great golf and I know it is in there and I have to stay patient. A good week is around the corner and hopefully next week will be the week.
Many Thanks
Jack
