Abruzzo Open

This was a tough one to take for me. I came into the tournament hitting the ball really well and playing some good solid golf. I wasn’t at 100% physically but that’s no excuse for the number that I posted first day.

Day One:

Today I really struggled. It was probably the toughest day I’ve had on a golf course in a long time! I got off to a horrible start and didn’t really recover from it. Everything that could go wrong did and I just couldn’t manage to get anything out of the round. I was shocking. I know that I am tough on myself but that’s only because I expect so much of myself and work so hard. I really struggled in every department and it was one of those days for me! I didn’t think I could shoot the score that I did with the way that I have been playing and how strong I usually am mentally but even that wasn’t there today! You learn a lot more about yourself when things don’t go your way and I am trying to take what small positives there are from today and move forward. I know that I will only come back stronger from a day like today and it will only motivate me to work harder and play better. Tomorrow is another day and looking to find something in my game to take forward into the May events!

Day Two:

The mindset we took into today was to just try and enjoy the round and find something in my game that I could take forward into the next set of events. It was a strange feeling going into the round knowing that unless I had a miracle I was going to miss the cut. I just had to really focus on trying to get back on track and finding some confidence to take into the next events.

I played a lot better today even though the score doesn’t suggest so! Hit the ball well and drove it pretty well on the whole. Missed a few shots in bad spots and hence why I made a few bogeys today! Finished off the round with a couple of really good wedge shots to tap in range. Felt like I found a little something in my game today and even though it’s small it helps and it shows that there is a good player trapped in there somewhere even on a bad day. Didn’t get what I deserved out of the round today but it’s just been a poor tournament which has taught me a lot and I now know what needs to be worked on and what I can build on going forward.

Looking forward to a couple of weeks at home to work on my game and really put the hours in that I need to. May is going to be a busy month with three events in a row in three different counties and I can’t wait to get some momentum gathered for these events. As always thanks for everyone’s support and I look forward to better weeks going forward. It’s time to put this one behind me and focus on what we have coming up in the near future.

Many thanks

Jack
